⏰ Why Class 8

What this age needs

The pattern is forming

Middle school is when styles and interests stabilise — the first trustworthy signal.

Marks alone mislead

A dip usually means method mismatch, not ability. This shows which one.

Your child sees strengths

Their version is encouraging language only — never a rank or comparison.

🎯 What it measures

Written for a Class-8 mind

🗣️ Speaking & expressing

Getting a thought out clearly, in their own words

👂 Listening

Understanding what they hear — scored partly by the Listening Lab

📖 English skills

Words, grammar and reading sense

🙂 Reading non-verbal cues

Noticing faces, tone and the room

🧍 Body language & voice

How they come across when they speak

🤝 Connecting with people

Starting, joining and holding a conversation

📖 The report

Questions your Class 8 report answers

  • Is my child a strong writer but quiet speaker — or the reverse?
  • Which of the six skills needs support first?
  • How do they come across in groups?
  • What daily practice would move the weakest skill?

⚙️ How it works

How does the Communication Assessment work?

How it works

In the Class 8 paper, 60 quick questions cover six skills — some scored, some honest self-checks.

🔤
English SkillsScored questions on vocabulary, grammar and understanding what they read.
🗣️
Speaking & ExpressingHow clearly and confidently ideas come out in spoken words — an honest self-check.
👂
ListeningA self-check first — then the Listening Lab plays a real passage and asks what was heard.
🔎
Reading Non-verbal CuesScored questions: what does a face, a pause or a tone of voice really mean?
🧍
Body Language & VoiceThe signals they send — eye contact, posture, expressions, tone of voice.
🤝
Connecting with PeopleScored people-moments: saying hard things kindly, adjusting to the audience.

🧪 From Class 6, an optional 🎙️ Speaking Lab too — read aloud, answer one question; the device checks pace and pauses, then deletes the audio.

The six scores combine into one communication level out of 100 — and the report shows which skill to work on first.

🎯 Why this class

Why a Class 8 student should take the Communication Assessment

The last low-pressure year.

There is still room to practise one named skill properly before Class 9 fills every free period with syllabus.

The Presence Lab opens this year (beta).

From Class 8 you can record one video answer, watch it back and rate your own eye contact, posture and voice. The clip is deleted on the device — only the self-ratings are kept.

Tryout season is next.

MUN, debate and drama tend to pick the same few faces. Six separate scores show who else can listen, read a room and connect.

You walk away with one communication level out of 100, all six skills scored separately, the strongest skill and the first one to grow, lab results when taken, a practice plan, separate notes for parents and teachers, and a certificate with a verifiable serial.

🗓️ When & why

When should a Class 8 student take the Communication Assessment?

Does this sound familiar?

👨‍👩‍👧A parent

Single words at dinner. An hour on the phone with a friend.

The skill is there. The assessment scores all six — including body language and voice — so you see which one shows up at home and which one waits for friends.

🧑‍🏫A counsellor / teacher

The debate team picks itself from the same five kids every year.

Screen the whole class on speaking, listening and body language in one period. Find the ones nobody has heard yet; run tryouts from a profile.

🎒The student

You’ve seen yourself on video once and never want to again.

The Presence Lab is 30 seconds, private, and you rate yourself. You find out what you actually do — usually less than you feared, and one thing worth fixing.

The right moments

⏳ The last low-pressure year

Class 9 raises the stakes. Class 8 is the best year to fix a weak skill without exam pressure.

🎭 Debate, MUN and drama tryouts

Most schools open these doors in Class 8 — walk in knowing your strengths.

🎥 The Presence Lab opens

From Class 8: record 30 seconds, watch yourself back, rate your own body language. Honest and private.

Why now, not later: this year there is time to practise. Next year every free period has a syllabus in it.

Honestly: retake once a year. The report tracks growth against their own last attempt only — no comparison with anyone else.

🤔 Parents ask

Class 8 Communication assessment — what parents ask

Is the Class 8 Communication assessment timed?

Softly. A friendly countdown allows about 45 seconds a question — it warns when time is up but never submits for you. Plan for about 30 minutes in one sitting; progress is not saved part-way.

How many questions are in the Class 8 Communication assessment?

60: English 16, Speaking 9, Listening 7, Reading non-verbal cues 12, Body language & voice 9, Connecting with people 7. Then the Listening, Speaking and Presence Labs — a story read aloud with three questions, short spoken tasks recorded on the mic, and one video answer you rate yourself.

Will the Class 8 assessment record my child on video?

Only in the Presence Lab (beta), and only if they choose to: they record a 30-second self-introduction, watch it back and rate their own body language. The video never leaves the device and is deleted — only the self-ratings are kept. Skip it or deny camera permission and the assessment carries on.

Are there wrong answers? Is there a rank?

English, Reading non-verbal cues and Connecting with people are scored; Speaking, Listening and Body language & voice are honest self-checks with no right answer. The report gives a level out of 100 and six skill scores — never a rank or a class comparison.

What does the report show — and is there a certificate?

One communication level out of 100, all six skills with what to do next, the strongest skill and the first one to grow, lab results, a practice plan, and separate notes for parents and teachers. Print or save it as a PDF; a certificate and a share card are included.

How often should a Class 8 student retake it?

Once a year. On a retake the report adds a journey page comparing this year with their own last attempt — never with classmates or siblings.
