⚙️ How it works

How does the Communication Assessment work?

How it works

In the Class 9 paper, you answer 64 quick questions across six skills — some scored, some honest self-checks about how you actually communicate.

🔤
English SkillsScored questions on vocabulary, grammar and understanding what you read.
🗣️
Speaking & ExpressingHow clearly and confidently you put thoughts into spoken words — an honest self-check.
👂
ListeningA self-check first — then the Listening Lab plays a real passage and asks what you heard.
🔎
Reading Non-verbal CuesScored questions: what does a face, a pause or a tone of voice actually mean?
🧍
Body Language & VoiceThe signals you send — eye contact, posture, expressions, tone of voice.
🤝
Connecting with PeopleScored people-moments: saying hard things kindly, reading the room, adjusting to your audience.

🧪 Optional labs on top: 🎙️ Speaking Lab (recorded, checked on your device, audio deleted) and 🎥 Presence Lab — watch yourself back and rate your own body language.

Your six scores combine into one communication level out of 100 — and the report tells you which skill to work on first.

🎯 Why this class

Why a Class 9 student should take the Communication Assessment

One honest fix fits this year.

Class 9 still has room to work on a single named skill. Class 10 has room for revision.

Right in your head, wrong out loud — the report says why.

Speaking & Expressing, Body Language & Voice and English are scored apart, so you learn whether it is structure, delivery or language.

Prefect and captain applications are open.

Listening and reading the room are scored too — so your case is a profile, not a volume contest.

You walk away with one communication level out of 100, all six skills scored separately, your strongest skill and the first one to grow, lab results when taken, a practice plan, separate notes for your parents and teachers, and a certificate with a verifiable serial.

🗓️ When & why

When should a Class 9 student take the Communication Assessment?

Does this sound familiar?

🎒The student

In your head the argument is perfect. Out loud it comes out in the wrong order.

Speaking & Expressing scores structure apart from confidence. The assessment tells you which one it is — before internals and vivas start counting.

👨‍👩‍👧A parent

You ask about school and get “fine”. The friends get everything.

That is an audience choice, not a gap. The report scores the six skills that are actually there, so you know what to build and what to leave alone.

🧑‍🏫A counsellor / teacher

Prefect applications open. The loudest twenty apply. The best listeners don’t.

A six-skill profile for the whole class shows the listeners and the room-readers. Run one session for them; brief the class teacher in a line.

The right moments

🎒 Start of Class 9

Internals, practicals and vivas start counting now. Know your baseline before they do.

🏅 Going for prefect or captain

Leadership roles run on communication. See what to sharpen before you apply.

⏳ Before board prep takes over

Class 10 will swallow the calendar. Fix the weaker skill while you still have the time.

Why now, not later: Class 9 has room for one honest fix. Class 10 has room for revision.

Honestly: once a year. You are compared with your own last attempt — nobody else.

🤔 Parents ask

Class 9 Communication assessment — what parents ask

Is the Class 9 Communication assessment timed?

Softly. A friendly countdown allows about 45 seconds a question — it warns when time is up but never submits for you. Plan for about 30 minutes in one sitting; progress is not saved part-way.

How many questions are in the Class 9 Communication assessment?

64: English 17, Speaking 9, Listening 8, Reading non-verbal cues 12, Body language & voice 9, Connecting with people 9. Then the Listening, Speaking and Presence Labs — a story read aloud with three questions, short spoken tasks recorded on the mic, and one video answer you rate yourself.

Will the Class 9 assessment record my child on video?

Only in the Presence Lab (beta), and only if they choose to: they record a 30-second self-introduction, watch it back and rate their own body language. The video never leaves the device and is deleted — only the self-ratings are kept. Skip it or deny camera permission and the assessment carries on.

Are there wrong answers? Is there a rank?

English, Reading non-verbal cues and Connecting with people are scored; Speaking, Listening and Body language & voice are honest self-checks with no right answer. The report gives a level out of 100 and six skill scores — never a rank or a class comparison.

What does the report show — and is there a certificate?

One communication level out of 100, all six skills with what to do next, the strongest skill and the first one to grow, lab results, a practice plan, and separate notes for parents and teachers. Print or save it as a PDF; a certificate and a share card are included.

How often should a Class 9 student retake it?

Once a year. On a retake the report adds a journey page comparing this year with their own last attempt — never with classmates or siblings.
